Hey Xj-Xile,
i like the idea for the catch can and iv started lookin around for parts,
quick question tho, how much does it help, and "technically"
what does it do?
its gonna be a little tight in there on my cherokee sport but
ill make it work.

It's really only for older jeeps that have a certain problem, called blow-by. Blow-by is the name for oil getting from the valve cover back into the air filter -- if your air filter isn't soaked with oil, you don't need it. The catch can catches the oil as it tries to escape the valve cover, thus preventing it from soaking your air filter.

So it's not a performance mod, but more of a 'my **** jeep is old and leaks oil into my air intake' kind of mod.

Ebay baby! yah seriously got a front winch bumper and rear off ebay for $395 with free shipping. You can probably get the rear for under $250. The bumpers are called Razor and they are made by Roxolid trail armor. Probably the best bang for the buck. Installed it easily. and its stronger than Rosanne arm wrestling for a meatloaf sandwich.

I got my "new" Instrument cluster back from the speedo shop last week, I had them set it to the same mileage as my heap.
Today I took the lens off it and got some fluorescent orange paint and painted the faded out needles, then installed the new cluster using HCI stang's excellent write-up on swapping out the idiot lights for gages. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/97-xj-gauge-cluster-swap-write-up-how-752630/

Best of all I can tell how many revs I am turning and oil pressure and how hot it is running. I am glad to find out it has good oil pressure and doesn't seem to run much hotter than 200-210.

Used some acrylic cleaner/polish on the lens and took out most of the scratches can only see them if I look very closely

Finished and installed all lit up

Daimond plate look soft door panels!!!

My moron stepfather threw out my door panels while i was in the process of relocating my speakers and making quick discos for the electrical, so I could take the doors on and off. I got itchy and decided to fabricate something. heres what i did. I call them Diamond Plate look soft door Panels

Tools/Materials needed:



Daimond Soft Anti-Fatigue Mat (Home Depot about $15 a sheet)Drill
Small drill bit
Sheet metal shears or scissors
Self tapping metal screws
Sharpie Marker
Tape Measurer

With the door off, if you can, lay the door on the ground and go ahead and start measuring, and marking off were you want to cut.



Trim the corners and cut the rectangle out for the door handle, I covered were the window/door controls were cuz mine have been relocated. Make sure to be presise because you will be using this as a template for the other door. This will make the process alot faster for the other door.









Now take your other sheet of Anti-Fatigue Matting and place it back to back (daimonds out) with the template you have already cut for the first door. Go to town with your sharpie and trace it out.





Cut er' out!



Now put the two panels back to back again, so they line up. With a sharpie (I used Blue to contrast the black) mark dots were your screws are going to go. I didn't measure just eye-balled it, but thats your choice.



Place the mats back to back again, on something your not going to drill into, like your moms porch (whoops!). Cement worked well for me. Now use a small drill bit to just make some guide holes for your self tapping screws. This way you avoid the mat twisting all up on you later when you go to secure it.

Lay em' on your doors, and make sure they line up how you want them to.



Get out your self tapping screws, and secure the panels to the doors!



Put your doors back on and drool over how sick your new door panels look...

Well the doors were already gutted and the speakers relocated (About 3 hours). Then It took another 3 hours to get the doors off. But It only took me 2 hours or so to do the new panels.

I was bored at work so I dug up an old 2-cycle engine and pulled the piston head. Then I soaked it in parts cleaner for an hour and cleaned it off, then took fine-grit sand paper and removed all of the carbon whatnot. Then I filed down a steel bar to just slightly bigger than the hole and gently pounded it in with a sledgehammer. Then I welded a nut to the bar, and...
