is it better to shift sooner and bog the engine at 1000-1500 rpm's or to get into the power band and shift at like 3k I have been doing my 1-2 at 3k as it gets there quickly with not alot of throttle and my 2-3 around there as well, once in 3rd I dont shift into 4th unless im on level ground and going over 40. Is this what I should be doing? I like to stay in 3rd even at 45 because i have alot of hills in my area and it seems to take much less throttle to get up these hills compared to 4th where i have to gun it.

so what should i be more concerned about, the amount of throttle i use or my rpms?

Hi from New Hampshire. Someone mentioned this to me, they do what to the gasoline?!

My MPG right now i think is around 11 with 4.2l. I dont care to much about MPG, i thought i had a 10 gallon tank.. and i was figuring i was getting around 18-20 MPG with my 4.2l 89 YJ. OMG THIS IS AWESOME........ gas got cheaper so i decided to put in more gas than usual and fill the tank put 'enough to fill the tank', and it didnt. Quickly got home researched it and found out i had a 15 gallon tank. Cutting my MPG by 50%, basically i was never getting 20 MPG and i had no problem paying the amount i did when gas was more expensive, now it kind of annoys me paying for gas when you get 10 mpg. Still cant find out why.

Of course during all this i never accelerated hard stock tires, no lift, did alot of coasting etc no real idling. Of course its possible the fuel gauge lies, those are just estimates. Still have not filled my tank to find out true MPG.

GARH!

I try to do alot of 5th gear @ 40-45 mph just to save gas. Of course you hit the slightest incline and you have to drop down for 4th.

You ever think of a For Sale sign? That might help. I have a stock TJ 4.0 and I drive 84 miles a day all interstate and do 65 and still only get 16.7 MPG

I know i should believe in Santa and the Easter bunny as well.Just figured "hey" maybe someone got something to work.Even a gain of 2 mpg would be great.

I just check my tire pressure like our Irish President told me to

But really. I plan on buying a bicycle or scooter over the summer and taking that to school, the Jeep will turn into a weekend/fun vehicle.

I get about 22mpg on the highway and about 17 in town. Its a 99 WJ with 4.0 and stock drivetrain and tires. If I want better MPG I get the scotter out and get 100 MPG. That thing is get for the paper route. 80 miles on 7/10 of a gallon of gas.

My Pitbulls are looking down on me. R.I.P. girls

Not sure I understand "Nitrogen" in the tires. Isn't air already 78% nitrogen?
