Here is a cheap fix so you will not get a ticket for having your third tail light blocked by a over sized Tire and if you have a hard top, To fix it so your wipers will work again. total cost $7.30
I bought BF Goodrich A/T size 33x12.50x15 and the only problem is that it would not fit my tailgate mount. I bought a spacer off E-bay and sure enough the tire fit.
However the side effect was that the oversized tire was covering the third break light. Here it is a $35.00 correction fee at the court house after it is fixed. If you do not fix it and get pulled over again, your vehicle can be impounded for 30 days.
Also the tire was putting pressure on the third break light and pushing it back enough to were the rear wiper would hit the third beak light and get stuck.
My solution was to put a spacers between the top of the tire mount and the base of the third brake light bracket.
4 zinc plated M8-1.25 X 90MM Bolts.
4 Zinc plated washers.
4 PVC 1/2 inch pipe's 3 inch long
On two of the PVC pipes I cut off about two threads worth off, about 1/8 inch. This was to lean it slightly away from the glass for clearance of the wiper arm.
After taking the spare tire off, unclip the wire from the two clips on the bracket. Remove all four bolts and store bolts someplace.
Place the 3 inch PVC pipes closest to the rear window under third break light bracket, loosely install bolts.
Place the trimmed PVC pipes closest to the spare tire, loosely install bolts.
Snug all bolts, re clip wire as shown and replace spare tire.
SIDE NOTE: I used 3 inch PVC as that was all I needed for the tire size I had to deal with. If your tire size is larger or smaller the pipe size will change. The wiring on the third brake light will have to be spliced and made longer for tire sizes over 33.
