Soft Top Sound and Temperature Insulation

One warm day during the summer I took the top off the hoops and laid it out on my front lawn. I also had a piece of thinsulate, 1/4" thick and lined on both sides, 3 or 5 yards if memory serves.

I laid it out on the top, lining up one side and the front, and trimmed the other side with a scissor and the back too. Then I used a sharp utility knife to cut the thinsulate to let the straps for the snaps on the back and center hoops to pass through the material.

I remounted the top to the hoops and then I added some velcro to the front portion, about 5 pieces across the front about 1 inch before where the windshield meets the top, and a piece over the roll cage tube, about 1/2 way down on the driver and passanger side.

It made a huge difference for the noise levels and also for the temperature in the Truck. Considerring that it ran me about $50 for all the materials, it is a great upgrade.

The tools were a sharp scissor and utility knife.
The materials were some velcro pieces, about 3/4" wide by about 2", and velcro adhesive in a tube.

It took about one hour in total.

Because the thinsulate is flexable it can be folded easily with the top, and it will not rattle or hurt anyone if it came down.

ok...not too familiar with "thinsulate". I'm assuming you can purchase this at Wally World or the local hardware store? Is there a certain brand to look for?
