roll bar question

i have a black TJ and have been thinking about taking padding off of roll bar and powdercoating to match my wheels and leaving padding off. has anyone done this and do you like it? thanks for the help

I pulled the padding off my roll bar because it was ghetto wrapped with electrical tape. I painted the bar, didn't powder coat. Looks way better but I do smack my head occasionally while wheeling, ouch. Will probably put new padding back on at some point, minus the electrical tape.

i can get roll bar powercoated for $125 and i think itll look good but i also think the padding make a jeep look good so not sure what unpadded roll bar would look like

Get foam tubes from 4wd or quadratec. they look like the noodles from pools.

If you have a black TJ, the roll bars should be black already. Why spend the money to powdercoat?

I have a black TJ and IIRC the bars are gray under the padding.

not a powder coat fan myself. every little chip and it rusts like crazy underneath. maybe that's just up here because of the winter road salt/sand, but i don't do anything powder coated.
