Rearview mirror help

Does anyone know how to remove the metal plate from the back of a rearview mirror in a 96 jeep Cherokee? I'm having trouble reattaching it to the windshield. Thanks!

There should be a screw holding it in place. The metal button has a wedge shape and the screw locks it in place.

So I should be able to push it right out once I take out the screw? I pushed and prodded the plate for 30 minutes and it didn't budge... Any thoughts?
