My jeep wont start

It starts the first time, for the day, but every time I turn it off it won't start and takes about an hour or two until it starts back up. Just put a brand new starter and battery in it about 8 months ago too.

Automatic tranny? If so then I'd say neutral safety switch? Mine was doing that too. If your reverse lights aren't working then I'd recommend rebuilding or adjusting it. Really need more information to give you more accurate advice.

Yea it's an automatic grand Cherokee limited, V8. The reverse lights work fine. Any idea?

Does it only happen on short trips like to the convenience store?

I'd look at the nss. Can you wiggle the shifter and hold the key? I'm only hammering the nss because that's exactly what mine was doing. It could just need an adjustment.

Does it take a little while for your check engine light to come on?

i had this issue in my 1994 zj, 4.0 automatic. I would turn the key 'on', and it wouldn't turn over until the check engine light came on. Replaced my computer and the issue went away.
