MAglite mounts are cheap (I got mine for $5 at Home depot) and they work great and grip well

Yah, they're great heavy duty flashlights, but in my opinion they're heavy and bulky. I got a headlamp with LEDs and they do every job I need it for and I have my hands free. Plus it fits anywhere... glove box, pants pocket, and you can even loop the head strap around the rolecage and use it as a cargo light. Mine ran me about $40 and gets up to 120 hrs of light and lights up to 50 metres, all on 3 simple AAA batteries. At 95 or so grams the whole thing weighs less than a bar of chocolate.

I used it to take my hard top of and put my soft top on in the pitch dark (don't ask) and it was all i needed for light.
i maglite doubles as a weapon

The Surefire is also a weapon. Its not a weapon of brute force like Jeepers are used to. The blinding effects of the beam along with the the strike bezel make it a worthy opponent. It however is not a cheap one and that is a BIG factor in every day life. For the money the 4D Mag is more bang for the buck. The surefire is a great lite and hands down superior to the mag lite. The surefire however isn't at all worth the $90+ that it says.

Home Depot light

Home Depot sells a Husky light that works better then the Maglight. It has a higher wattage and is water tight. the throw is much better then the maglight (further and brighter). I really like the way it is constructed to stand on its back and on the front with groves near the light source so that you can see light while it is standing on the front. The light is heavy duty enough to use as personal defense and the groves would do much more damage if needed. it doesn't roll around like the maglight because of the groves.
The great part is it is less then $30!

When buying one make sure you look at the LED and ensure that it is centered so you have the most clean throw (only issue I have found with some of them).

Has anyone mounted one in a center console? I just bought and mounted a Tuffy and was thinking about doing it in my YJ.

to each they're own opionion but the surefire an excellent flashlight...i understand the price is a little on the steep side...but they are tactically engineered and durable. My e2d defendender ran $130 and was worth every penny.

Wow, I was planning on mounting mine on the door side of the driver's seat riser but I like this better. Thanks!
