maglite mount

I've notice a few people running maglite mounts in their jeeps, Is there a cheap way to make these?

I have a rechargable maglight that is hard-wired to a 12v source im my jeep so when I am done using it I just click it down in the charging station that I have mounted beside my seat.

From the Wrangler thread (Cheap Cool Mods II), there's a guy that used tool magnets--won't work so well in a Cherokee unless you have some exposed metal somewhere... bottom of the seat, maybe:

A piece of PVC pipe u-bolted or zip-tied in a vertical position makes a good Maglite mount.

You could just buy the maglite mount kit. Got mine at the hardware store for like 3.99.

The PVC post gave me an idea - get a PVC tube that is a little tight around the mag lite body and cut 1/4 or so of the cylinder out of it so you get a C instead of a tube, sort of recreating the mag lite clips... if you cut along the radius it will probably pop in on the bevels.

Make 2 about 1"-1.5" wide and a couple of screws through the back and you should be good to go. Grind the back of the tube a bit and it should mount flush...

This is just fresh out of my head, so let us know if it works.

seriously, I looked for interesting ways to mount the mag light too...then I realized the mounts are 3.99 or so at the hardware store (as stated a few posts up)
they can be mounted anywhere and do the job well. There really is no cheaper alternative that works as well unless you use found parts.

I couldnt find the "mag-Lite" clips anywhere, so I used some spring loaded garden tool clips. Works well and holds in tight.

There's also these, from Quadratec, if you're willing to pay $25 for such things:
C-cell bracket
D-cell bracket

Careful about mounting it on rollbar and softtop thou, you never know if there's gona be that ****wad walks by and slash your window to steal it. I took my flashlight off the rollbar into the center console recently for that reason.
