This is a picture of my boat gas cap, but the concept is the same for any gas cap for your jeep. If your cap is not tethered to the jeep, place the cap on the pump, where you will be forced to move it to replace the pump handle.

I generally leave the keys in my cap, which means I can't start the jeep without putting the cap back on and removing the keys.

Wallmart sells rags in bulk. Throw the bag in the back and no big deal if you lose one.

Take a fishing leader screw one end to the top of the cap and the other end to the vehicle, sometimes you can even use one of the fuel door screws.

Lol the first day I bought my jeep I was getting gas at like 10 at night and I put the cap on the roof and forgot I there and when I drove off I stopped and it slid don't and rolled down my hood and right into the middle of the main road lol it took my like 20 minutes to find it in the dark and it landed right on the yellow lines..

It's a jeep thing...you wouldn't understand :)

Fold down the plate -- use the small 6" bungie on the back of the plate to hold it down - place the locking cap on it ----

I was once a tree house.
I lived in a cake.
But I never saw the way - the orange slayed the rake --
