Help! 1986 cj7 mirrors are useless!

Every pothole sends the drivers side mirror pointing at the ground and the passenger side gives me a nice view of the moon. I just bought the jeep and I think they are original mirrors - no hex screws to tighten down. Everyone without a jeep has an opinion: loctite, coca-cola, gorilla glue.... Anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Where is it loose? Is it pivoting at the single bolt holding it to the body or at the ball stud in the rear of the mirror?

If it's the ball stud, there are 3 Philips head screws on the rear of the mirror. Tighten these up.

If it's the single bolt pivot at the body, tighten it. You can also add a "star" washer between the plastic mounts and the metal clamp.

Set up the passenger side mirror so you are looking at it through the windshield.
