Door Hanger Question

I have heard door hangars that incorporate hanging the doors from the window frames will wreck the welds and cause problems with the weatherstripping. Any truth to that? Would eye bolts that use the hinges for hanging be better? I have looked at several posts, just looking for a general consensus.

I don’t know about the JK doors, but the CJ doors that I have on my YJ are pretty heavy. And I can easily see where being hung by the window frame could damage the window seal.

I made a set of hangers for my doors using some scrap angle iron. I cut two pieces about 6” long, and in one side of the angle, drilled some holes so I could bolt the pieces to the wall in the garage. On the other side of the angle, I drilled holes that were just slightly larger than the hinge pins on the doors. With the two pieces of angle iron bolted to the wall, the doors just drop onto them just like they do on the hinges on the jeep.

I'll try to remember to get a picture of the hangers, and post them here.

I just bought a cheap set of hinges on ebay just like the ones on my jeep, and screwed them to the wall in my shop. Now when I take the full doors off and put the half doors on, I just rehang the doors on those hinges on the wall. works great and real cheap fix... good luck !!

ok, here's some pics of the hangers that I made. currently my soft doors are hanging on them, but the full steel doors fit the same way.

I have CJ style mirrors (the kind that mount to the windshield frame) on my jeep, so none of my door have mirrors attached to them. If your doors still have mirrors on them, you may have to space the hangers (or hinges if you use an extra set as hangers) away from the wall to allow clearance for the mirrors.
