That looks pretty sweet, and I was planning on taking it off and repainting it anyways, does anyone know how thick the metal is on the stock bumper?

Looks good. If you can weld and do all the fabwork then I would think you could make a complete bumper for cheap too. I did mine out of 2x5 rectangular tubing that cost $20 (in 2004).

I did basically the same thing, cut it down angled the ends and boxed in. Sorry this photo is from the side but all I have right now.

sweet. i just pulled off the silly "milk jug" ends and that makes a huge difference. What youve done here really has a custom look minus the cost.
