I know I'm old, but my dislike for chrome are
It usually rusts and its bright work you have to polish

Also, I rarely leave anything of value in the jeep, unless it's a pistol or something.
Talking about security ha anyone ever thought of a proximity sensor alarm it basically puts out an electromagnetic field and goes off if that electro magnetic field is broken so it's still armed even with the top off

A steady hand and a 4.5" grinder. For a tj I believed the flares are already flush with the fender tops but on a yj it is best to move the flares up IMHO. But the basic run down for how I did it is
1. take the stock flares off
2. Cut the front of the fender off level with the side of the fender and flush with the front of the grill.

That is all there is to the fenders now on the flares if you want them flush with the fender tops that is where most of the work is at

1. Cut the mounting lip off of the back of the flare all the way around

If you did not take the marker light when you removed the flare do it now.

There will now be a raised edge on the back of the flare where the marker light was.
Cut that flush with the top of the flare.

Now your marker light will face upwards so you need to cut a whole in the flare for the wires.

Now that all the trimming and cutting is done make sure all cut metal edges get painted so they don't rust and reinstall the flares.

The factory holes will not work I remounted my flares with self tapping screws and I also used self tappers for the markers as well.

Sorry if any of that is hard to understand I am typing this on my phone so if you have any questions just ask.

Also if you don't care about the flares being flush you could do all the trimming without even removing the flares

I guess you can count the painted plastic bezels as a cheap mod too...
How did you get past the button part tho

I got mine from the music parts drawers at lowes or Home Depot, near where they sell screws and such.

You can do the flat fender mod with a utility knife. Go over and score a line several times. Then just break it off and lightly sand the edge to make it clean.
