i just figured out a cool, cheap addition to my YJ. I wouldnt call it a mod because its not really attached to teh jeep.

Using a 40 x 33" piece of 1/2" plywood, I made a cover for the "bed" for when I have the back seat out, which is pretty much always. I also used 2-2x4's as runners from front to back to keep it from sliding side to side. Now paint it black and put a hasp or some type of lock on the underside adn you have a great concealment for whatever you have in the back.

this was actually free for me, cause i used materials that were... umm... donated.... from a job site I was on.

I use my ashtray for loose change. But when it gets somewhat full the change falls out the back side of the tray. It goes down in the dash and/or console and rattles around. So I took the center section of the dash out. You know where the radio, hvac controls, and ash tray are. Anyway I put a couple of pieces of duct tape over the opening behind the ashtray. Now when the change falls out, its just there on the tape and not rattling around behind the dash. Cost= free(unless you have to buy the tape).

Glen m86, in regards to post on 04-06-2005 4:18pm, if you haven't moved your overhead speakers from the back up front above your head, DON"T. My 92 came with the soundbar mounted in front of the roll bar. I am 6'2" and have lost count of the times my head and soundbar have met while bouncing around on the trail, even with a seatbelt on. It takes some of the fun out of the bumps at least for a minute or 2.

In supaasianpdjr's post on 7-23-2005 7:59pm. In case anyone is wondering the clamps that are used to mount the hi lift jack are called minerallac clamps. They are a clamp used to hold electrical conduit. You can find them at any electrical supply house. They also work very well for holding any round items, drive shafts, axle shafts. just screw them down and then clamp the round items in them. They have a nut and bolt supplied to hold them together but you will have to supply the mounting hardware.

Another good item for holding a mag light is those metal spring type mop and broom holders. Wrap a little electrical tape or duct tape around the spring parts will increase the hold instead of metal to metal and slipping up and down in the clamp the mag light will stay in place.

The plywood across the back when the seat is out is an excellent idea. another item to add to that is some tie downs to the lid. If you use 3/4" plywood you can put anything you want on top of it and not have to worry about it sagging.

I also cut a piece of plywood to fit across the bars from the roll bar to the window. drilled some holes down the sides and secured the board to the bars with heavy duty plastic tie wraps. then you have another area for hauling coolers or rubbermaid packer boxes full of gear. DO NOT TIE ANYTHING TO THE PLYWOOD, tie down your items to the roll bar etc. The tie wraps are only there to hold the plywood in place. The minerallac clamps can be used to clamp the plywood down for a stronger setup. The advantage is you always have a bikini top plus your soft top fits right over the plywood so you don't have to take it off and put it on over and over. The advantage of using heavy duty tie wraps to hold the plywood down is they won't wear holes in your top, bolts sticking up through the plywood will wreak havoc on your soft top.

I just bought an '05 and live in Phx, it gets pretty damn hot, the heat didn't help at all. I got one warning sticker 1/2 way off and said screw it! I just went out looking for some 'cool' stickers and slapped the puppies right over the original warnings.

Well by the sounds everyone is talking about CJ body style stuff. But on my XJ I just removed the sunvisors when replacing the headliner. And as for flipping the rear veiw mirror upside down I just removed it and found a dash mount one, because Im to tall to see, so flipping the mirror didnt help me.

Cheap mag-light holder... I took a piece of pvc pipe cut it and attached it to the lower part of the main hoop with bungy cords.. Just slide the mag-light in it and go..you can paint the pvc pipe or you can sticker it up like I did... works great!
