Converts your existing tail gate from a swing out to a fold down design.

All brackets are laser cut out of 3/16" or 3/8" steel and formed on a press break.

All exterior bolts are stainless steel with powder coated hinges.

Installs with minimal shop tools, and no welding required.

This is the only kit of its kind , other people have used Jeep CJ tailgates to perform a similar function, they however...are not compatible with your hard top, not lockable, and the color will not match.

Hot off the laser cutter......."Flat Back" Drop Down Tailgate Conversion Kit For Your YJ-TJ-LJ

Because I can't leave well enough alone, I made a few optional additions to the drop down tailgate kit.

Two panels made out strong yet light weight 3/16" aluminum. This will compliment the aluminum corners that my Jeep will soon be wearing.

I am calling this kit the "Flat Back" drop down tailgate kit. I incorporated the hinge hole locations and toggle latch that were previously on three separate plates. It cleaned up the look of the drop down tailgate kit, hence the name "Flat Back".

As an option, I am selling just the aluminum plates by themselves for those of you who have purchased a kit from me previously. The only change to installing these two aluminum panels is the addition of a new hole next to the factory latch. All other holes will line up with previously drilled holes in your tailgate.

Looks good. My only suggestions is ditch the sound file that plays when your website loads . ****ing annoying!

Once installed the tailgate conversion kit becomes easily justified, I guarantee you that you will use it every time you are out on the trail, something will come up where you need a flat smooth surface that is not in the dirt.

I do not offer discounts for any products I sell. Rather than play the mark items up 10% game just to knock off 10% is not how I run my business. I know what is cost to create the kit, and the cost of doing business. I sell my products at a fair price with just enough margin to keep the lights on. I ship the kit out via USPS flat rate shipping the same day if ordered before 9:00 am and it will arrive on your door step in two or three business days guaranteed.

i have been wanting to do this however with a CJ tailgate because it says JEEP on it. any possibility that you will make an after market door like the old CJs? I bet it would sell like hot cakes at a fat camp

I am hoping I can use the hatch system he has for the Right side on the Left Side as well. As the CJ style Tail Gate doesnt have a striker on the Left side. Thus I would have to of the latches holding my tailgate in place. I am half tempted to use hood latches on the inside to pull/hold the tailgate shut.

John, I do offer a YJ kit. Head over to this link Custom 4x4 tube off road fabrication tj fold down tailgate

You can use a CJ tailgate with this kit, the only difference is the latch on the upper right hand side, there isn't one on the CJ tailgate. If you run a hard top you have to lock or unlock the tailgate from the inside of the Jeep. If you want to run a CJ tailgate I can create a custom kit using select components to make a kit that will work for your application.
