Is the YJ steering set up so I can use it on top of the knuckle? and use the Goferit weld in inserts?

It is and yes you could but they need to be the 7/8" size...

ive got a 04 LJ on 35s with 3" of lift and am wanting to upgrade the steering, I was looking at the Y link system, will it handle close to factory? I ask cause a friend of mine has the rustys steering and says that when he hits a bump in the road or the jeep "ZJ" goes over a bridge and the body lifts, the steering wheel will look and feel like its turning but it keeps going strait, weird. its a long armed zj so im not sure if that would make that much of a difference, but I don't want that in a steering kit, thanks

His steering either isn't setup right, or its faulty from the factory. Our steering if setup right will not do any of what you mentioned above.
