We offer custom solutions on these kits too. If you have an interesting set up that doesn't look like a regular drill press, chances are good that we can find a way to slow it down with out kit still! :smokin:

We just sold a double kit, 10:1 reduction. Customer could have gone up to a 25:1 reduction, but it would have been TOO SLOW. How often do you hear that about a drill press?

Some of our customers have been asking us about belt speed reduction versus VFD (variable frequency drive). VFD uses power signal adjustments and a 3 phase motor to infinitely vary the speed. The two main drawbacks are cost and torque. VFD requires a new 3 phase motor and the VDF box(expensive for most people) and is a constant torque system. When you cut the speed at a 5:1 ratio, you get no more torque. With belt reduction, you get 5X the torque. Both methods have their advantages and drawbacks.

Another batch of our Drill Press Reduction Kits ready to be shipped out to customers. If you haven't looked these up on our web page and you drill metal, you owe it to yourself to take a look. They will pay for themselves in burned up drill bits!
