I want one but there is allot of mud and water crossings here in wisco.
It was designed primarily for open-top trail rigs, not as an air-tight replacement for the stock gate. Even the side weatherstrips we do provide are more for anti-rattle than for weather sealing. But its a pretty close tolerance between the bottom lip of the gate and the Jeep tub, plus the bottom edge sits in sort of a "step" so its not a direct path under the gate to the Jeep's interior. With the soft top on we haven't noticed much draftiness or water seapage through it, but we're in a primarily dry climate here and we don't want to claim that the TrailGate is weatherproof. My guess is it would do well in keeping splashed mud out, but if you submerge the Jeep it would flow in. So you'd want to stay out of the sippy hole LOL...

Perhaps some of our customers who have installed these in wetter climates can chime in with their experience. I suppose you could source some stripping for the bottom edge and DIY it. But like I said its a pretty closer tolerance down there so it would have to be pretty thin material.

I've been lobbying for it and proposing several different approaches to it, but have not heard a definite go-ahead for it yet. The problem is that the JK isn't flat like the TJ, YJ, etc. So you can't make a tailgate for the JK using the same materials and methods as this one--out of flat plate with a press brake.

I would bet that we'll come up with something. We get a lot of inquiries about it from the JK crowd.

Yes you of course have to cut holes in the hood for it to function. You can download the install template/instructions if you'd like to see what's involved before pulling the trigger, also there is an install video embedded on the Hood Louver page. Sorry no coupon codes currently.
