New! JK/U skid plate system.

TL/DR
We have been working on this system for the 2 or 4 door JK for along time,it is now available.
Works with short arm systems using stock mounting.
Works with the Teraflex Long Arm system.
Available at various retailers.

Many years of research and development have gone into the design of the Ultimate JK Skid Plate System. The beginning phases of development were based on pure trail abuse of the factory skid plates. Through this we identified the areas that would need additional reinforcement and that building a simple overlay would not suffice for serious trail abuse. While developing the system we set a few goals, we wanted to be the first manufacturer to design a completely smooth (boltless) bottom system, develop our own unique gas tank mount/skid, and of course use aluminum to minimize the overall weight of the system.

Since we were venturing again into uncharted territory it was imperative to thoroughly test the system before releasing it to the public. We completed the design and began testing in June of 2014 and have tested it across the country and even taken it on Ultimate Adventure to ensure that we had the highest quality system to date. We made a few minor changes over the 10 months of testing making the final product truly top of the line.

The system is comprised of 4 main pieces, the gas tank skid/mount, transfer case/cross member skid, the oil and transmission skid, and the key to the boltless design the intermediate plate. By using the intermediate plate and bolting it to the transmission cross member we are able to connect all of the other pieces not from the bottom like everyone else but from the sides, front, and back making a series of I-beams to increase the strength of each component once bolted together. After our initial testing of the factory skids we knew the areas that were impacted the hardest so in those areas we use 3 layers of 3/16” aluminum giving us a combined thickness of 9/16” the thickest on the market for the most protection. Due to the size and span of the transfer case/cross member plate we use 2 layers of 3/16” aluminum and 3/8” ribs spanning the length of the plate. In addition to the ribs we also designed a bolt on rear support that sits just below one of the frame cross members so that on extreme hits we can absorb and then transfer the remaining energy back to the frame. The transfer case skid was designed to work with the factory transfer cases along with Atlas 2 and 4 speed configurations. The last piece of the system is the oil and transmission skid. Again we used 2 layers of 3/16” aluminum across the entire plate and we designed in a unique oil drain access plate that completely covers the bolts to protect them from damage but still maintains easy access for routine maintenance.

Weight has become one of the most important factors in designing aftermarket products. Even with all of the reinforcement the weight of the entire system is under 150 pounds for a 4 door JK, that is only 75 pounds more than the factory skid plates and you have immeasurably increased the underbody protection.

Notes

- Installation requires a transmission cross member that has not been dented or damaged.

- If your transmission cross member is damaged we recommend using the Poison Spyder cross member.

- Installation does require the removal of the gas tank so depending on the year of the vehicle a fuel line disconnect tool may be required

Where is this available? Do you have a website and/or YouTube videos of the system?

Northridge 4x4 and Rebel Off-Road come to mind.
Our website doesn't show it, yet. We are getting there.

Here is a small video of it from Easter Jeep Safari.

We also tested it last year on the Ultimate Adventure.

$3499.00 but remember a lot of our vendors will offer a % of discount.
We know it is spendy, but it is a solidly built piece that protects your vulnerable under belly and isn't as heavy as other options.

We have had a few PM's about the ability for this system to be modular AKA buy a piece or two at the time. Here is the info in regards to that.

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately this is the one item that we build that has to be purchased
all at once. The issue is that if all the pieces are not installed at the
same time then the system as a whole is not as strong so there is a
potential that an individual piece could become deformed not allowing the
customer to be able to install the next piece, also before shipping each
kit is full assembled to ensure alignment.
