We all know that CJ's came with a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern and that YJ's, KJ's, XJ's, ZJ's and TJ's came with a 5 on 4.5 pattern. Well, just to screw up the mix the new 2007 Wrangler JK comes with a 5 on 5 pattern. Suppose you upgraded your stock axles on your TJ to the larger 5 on 5.5 pattern, but your tire carrier only holds the stock smaller pattern, and you haven't ordered your AtoZ Spare Tire Carrier yet...you need some way to mount your larger pattern 5 on 5.5 wheels to your tail gate. If your running wheel adapters to fit the new JK 5 on 5 wheels...you can now run a matching spare. This also allows the JK Wrangler to run a larger tire on the stock carrier as it moves the tire up and out to miss the bumper and the third brake light.
