I am getting ready to prepare for the pan. There are some spots like in the upper rear corners that have a soft material that is under the paint. It feels like silicone. The factory paint is on the silicone as well and seems to adhere well. Do I need to trim this when I am scuffing or just paint over it? Would be nice if it were flush. They did a horrible job of trimming it and it looks like a sloppy paint job because of this. It is my jeep and I don't really care in the long run but just don't want a stupid soft spot to ruin the tub liner finish if I can fix it during prep.

Stripped out the old Herculiner, scuffed, sanded, primed bare spots, taped and rolled. It's ALL in the prep work.

Are you talking about the OEM seam sealer used in the factory?

I am not sure but if it matches the description that I included then yes. I really do think that is what it is. I did not know what to call it bit worried me that it was so flexible though. So do I need to worry about it?

Keep in mind that if you wait more than 8 hours you need to let it go to 24 hrs to cure better and then scuff before recoating

If you happy with it stop now and save the other gallon.

If factory paint was put over that stuff all you need to do is scuff it like the rest of tub and coat over it

This is not in areas that really gets used or abused.. correct?

OK if you find them it's always cool to compare side by side to sandpaper

You're always best off pulling tape immediately after 2nd coat is done. You never know what can happen where you can't get back to it soon enough and then pull tape too late and screw it up. If you waited overnight you would be cursing with what happens
