It is a uerathane coating, it is not powder coat or polyurea ( line-x type stuff) they are completely different, it's been clarified. Also as noted your application failed to the primer (that isn't a monsta failure) and it was noted from the go that epoxy is the BEST over bare steel, you opted for the easier route but wanted top performance under unrealistic conditions. This is a thick, durable DIY paint/coating, undestand the capabilities.

Mine chipped when i was putting the bumper on. I had to tap it in with a piece of 2x4 and a 2lb sledge. I hit the d ring mount and the top corner flaked off. I let it cure in a 78 degree heated garage for over 24 hours. But it appears to be fairly tough otherwise. I can just barley make a indent it in with my finger, hasn't quite been a week yet and seems to be getting harder. Maybe it was just too soon to tap it in, ill place the blame on me for now as i haven't really tested it otherwise.

Magnetman,

Looking at lining my XJ interior but curious - would the 1 gallon kit suffice?

Hey sorry this took me a bit but I finally got around to snapping some photos.

Hinges chipped and the seats only been out once since I installed but I expected something like this:

Spotty coverage:

Big chip that I filled in with some Duplicolor until I can touch it up ( You can see some spotty coverage also)

Small chip from I believe a stone under my mats on my drivers side (right where the damn flash is)

It could dull the surface and would probably soften the coating if left to sit or if you kept wiping it on. Coating would return to normal hardness afterwards.

MEK is the laboratory standard for testing solvent resistance in the paint industry

What are you doing?

I have scoops coming in the mail that I plan debating on painting as they come black. Not sure how they would look black on the hood. So maybe I should order just a quart of blue later and paint the scoops before I put them on.

I looked up Bren.. those are expensive unless there is lower cost models I missed. I cut some samples and it worked well printing direct from AI CS5

I will def have to pick your brain some, thanks!

Are you in the sign business?

Fairing coat skimmed on:

Sanded out:

Fill coat of raw epoxy to fill pin holes and seal up the surface:

Next up is scuffing up the raw epoxy to prepare it for the magnapoxy. Magnetman, couple last minute questions:
1) Plan is to do the sides in monsta first, wait the recommended 24hrs and then scuff up the overlapping area and monsta the top. Is it okay to magnapoxy the overlap area after scuffing up the monsta that was already down or will that seal it in and affect the final curing of the portion under it? (Trying to decide about waiting to prime the top till just before that coat goes down see below).
2) On the sides the plan was to put down the monsta 3-4hrs after the magnapoxy. For the top I need to wait 24hrs to scuff up the overlap line so if I primed it all at once instead of waiting to prime the top per above that primer would be a day or two old by the time its coated depending on timing. Light scuff maybe if we put it all down at once to ensure a good bond?

Basically with the task at hand what combo of application would you suggest to ensure the BEST adhesion. I'm not trying to cut corners here, I want it done once/right.
