Let the smoke escape on a cheap random orbital tonight, sanding fiberglass is rough on stuff. Motor windings get caked and cook. Low cost "disposable" sanders are handy unless you go really high end.

The Monstaliner FAQ says it will "bond to most clean/dry surfaces, including painted or primed steel, wood and fiberglass" but no mention of aluminum....Since a lot of paints have a problem sticking to aluminum, any special prep or primers needed, or can Monsta be applied directly to the aluminum??

and can I build up the thickness of Monstaliner (6-8 coats or more) in high traffic areas, or can it be applied too thick?

Updates are needed: Bare aluminum or steel can not be coated directly. Prime aluminum with 2 part epoxy primer for best adhesion. Scuff alum first to remove any oxidation and solvent clean with white rags until rags come up clean with no grayishness

You can do as many coats as you want just keep in mind the 8 hour recoat window for colors and if it cures more than 8 you need to wait 24 and scuff before recoat. Black has a much longer recoat window of at least 24 hours

I'm basecoating my YJ with Black Gloss CS this weekend. How many hours do I need to wait before I can do a second coat?

Thanks,

Recoat CS with itself when you can run your fingertip across it without sticking. Depending on temps should be 3.5 - 6 hours

ML can go over CS in the same time frame or up to 24 hrs, after 24.. scuff CS first

Your order is shipping today
