We recommend 60 grit on rust because it's faster and less work than using finer grits. No problem with what you did.

I guess my question is more about how much scuffing do I need to do? I know I don't want to go to bare metal, but is there a visual 'cue' that tells me I've sanded enough or need to sand more?

Keep moving forward. But keep an eye on history, for if you don't, you are doomed to repeat it.

You want to see significant sand scratches and the high gloss removed. Basically you are breaking the clear coat off the surface and turning it to powder. It's ok if the surface looks uneven with slight variations in sheen. 60 grit paper works best.

You don't need to go crazy and make the surface dead flat. Just knock the high gloss off and scratch it all up.

Is that a good description? I can't think straight today. Hard drive crash at home last night got me thinking of recent work lost if I can't recover.

Just figured this for someone a few days ago

I would recommend 3 gals to be safe

Received my 1 gal kit by UPS. Nothing was missing and everything was packaged very nicely. Also thanks for the quick shipping. Will start this project soon.

so is the sale extended/still on or over? turns out i have a need for some chassis saver and 1gal bedliner could find its uses, so figure id get the kit if that offer is still on...

actually, i just started looking at the magnetpaints section of the website, im dying to paint my dash gloss/piano black, so maybe ill go with your company for that product too, but what type would you recomend: synthetic, acrylic, acrylic poly? i have someone to spray it for me and plan on sanding and degreasing, maybe an etching primer, but idk the differences in type of paint and what might be best for this application...

monstaliner coverage?

I bought the one gallon kit and my question is if that`s enough to do the entire inside of the tub including the top rail (where cap sits & doors seal),I don`t want to find out 3/4 through it`s not enough. thanks

There will be stuff left over. Trust me. If you look at my install in my TJ, you will notice I had probably about 3" of the can left over: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/mo...ite-up-901675/
