Have you guys tried adhesion to wood. I have a center console that I built (never really fully finished it yet) and realized on my way home from class yesterday that this stuff would be perfect for it.
As for the plastic, I would just say grab a plastic bottle, but if you have ever felt the flares, they are slightly oily, or greasy feeling (hard to explain). If you do manage to get your hands on something, I would but it in half, and see how it adheres without sanding, and with sanding it.
Adhesion to wood will never be a problem as long as it is raw wood. If previously coated, painted, varnished... it just needs sanding to remove any gloss.
Regarding plastic, you must test on actual surfaces. All plastics are different. Some sort of adhesion promoting mid-coat or primer is needed. You don't just coat your fenders and hope it will stick or you'll likely be peeling it off in sheets.
Someone may be sending me some old jeep flares. If not I'll contact some junk yards and used jeep parts places.
So we leave either Saturday morn or Friday night (really late). How long are you guys looking at for needing a Jeep. We come back sometime on monday, but if you really need more time, I may be able to convince my mom to let the Jeep stay in LI till wednesday, and I could pic it up with my dad then. I have class on tues. so I would just take my dad's truck, and he would be bumming around the house for the day. Let me know, or shoot me your # so we can talk details. I can even drive it down with no carpet and seats (minus the driver's of course) if that would help. If you want you can email me at Luckrider7@gmail.com.
What magnetman, no Love for someone closer?!?!?!?! Did you even read my reply?!?!?!?!?
I'm sorry dude. I completely missed that post. I'd be happy to do your jeep WITH YOU HELPING
This is why I usually ask for local people. I get my warehouse guys to do the work during the week and I'll pitch in and supervise also and take photos also. I got a problem with this weekend and I can't start anything new until at least Monday.
I know you asked for suggested colors before. I found this thread today, and thought if you could match spice really well, it may attract some buyers SPECIFICALLY in the Jeep market. Even though body matched colors look good, I was surprised how nice that came out. Spice and White U-Pol
