Reading the article that kicked off this thread, it seems to me that the Engo was the best option, especially for the price, and it did survive the torture testing (whereas all the others failed in some way). The article was slanted way in favor of Warn, which is why it won (IMHO).
Oh, and my Engo arrives today I dont care what brand my winch is, as long as it will pull me (or a trail buddy) out of a sticky situation.

Thanks for the update. Although I believe almost everything is made in china these day , I’m looking for a winch that has the least amount of parts from china in it. Hehe, can we even use china and tight quality control in the same sentence?
Read a few reviews on this winch, seems like the only complaint is how loud it is. Anyone verify this?

That's true, but I'd rather spend $300 on a china winch than $1000 on a china winch. When I was looking at getting one, I was dead set on superwinch or warn. That was until I read the 4 wheel article. After reading some reviews, I figured I could deal with it being loud provided it would pull my stuck a$$ out when I needed it to
Overall, I've read nothing but good reviews. I won't be able to test it until I get my new bumper, but the packaging is good and the quality seems even better.
@ Eric: call Chris when you get ready to order it, he can probably help you out.

Just an update and I'll let this vendor have his thread back. Found a winch made in the U.S.A. Ramsey winches
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Why would you recommend some other brand on a vendors thread? If you don't like it or don't want it....don't post here! Start your own thread and "bash" all you want!

Shame on you, 4 Wheeler magazine and Warn for pushing Warn winches on us with this test. It was blatantly biased...after reading it, I passed on the Warn and bought the #10000 Engo at 1/5th the cost of the Warn. Only someone totally ignorant would buy the Warn after reading the article!

One thing I forgot to ask him: does anyone know what, if any, covers work for this winch?
I won't be going syn line anytime soon, so I want to keep her rust free

I actually emailed engo and asked about a cover. The reply I got was that they were going to be producing covers for market in about 6 weeks. That's perfect, my new bumper won't be in until about then
