1" lifted motor mounts for 6 cyl

Attachment 13652

This motor mount lifts your 6 cyl, 4.0 engine one inch (at the stock cooling fan). These are normally used in conjunction with a one inch body lift, or for other user modifications to realign driveshaft angle.

The Brown Dog demands over-engineering, because it can be a long, long walk to civilization out here in the desert. We believe our mounts are the strongest on the market. We use a full two and a half inch plate steel, double welded joints to provide the most strength possible, while retaining some vibration dampening. Crush tests have never shown a structural failure of any kind. This mount is the last mount you'll ever need. If the bushings wear out you can buy replacements from us, but the mount will go on and on. The Brown Dog gives you his word. Depending on your Jeep, you may need to replace your engine mount brackets to upgrade to high performance mounts.

* Measure the opening of the bracket where the motor mount is inserted. The ideal opening is 3 1/4 inches. We are developing a bracket for AMC 6 cyl. YJ applications. Larger openings can be shimmed (follow directions included with mounts). Certain Chrysler YJ mounting brackets can be slightly ground to fit (instructions included).

*We STRONGLY recommend you replace your stock engine mount brackets our high performance brackets. In some YJ's, the stock right bracket commonly fails during extreme use. With the torsional forces involved, don't risk a failure and damage.

Brown Dog products are designed for high performance applications and off highway use. No one can predict the forces a vehicle will encounter in extreme conditions that are beyond the vehicle's original design parameters. We feel that our products will continue to perform as designed when other products would break. We will replace any product that fails due to a defect in assembly (broken weld). We cannot be responsible for forces so extreme that the integrity of plate or tubular steel becomes compromised. But if you manage to do that, we certainly want to see a picture of it. Hey, we go out and do the same stuff you do, and we try to break it, but we don't hold others responsible for the results of our strange behavior. Have fun, be safe.

We manufacture and sell a complete line of High Performance Motor Mounts and Brackets for Jeep® vehicles

I have a few questions about your 1" Lift Mounts for a 2000 TJ. What is the bushing material like? Is it similar to the stock mount (soft rubber like)? I have heard that the M.O.R.E. 'Bombproof' transmit more vibrations to a Jeep and I wonder if there may be more noticeable vibration when a Brown Dog Mount is installed? Does the mount have a built in stud on the inboard side of the mount like the stock ones?

The bushings are graphite embedded polyurethene (we can substitue non-graphite upon request). Polyurethene is used because it has a consistant composition, as opposed to rubber which generally has some small voids. Tests by bushing manufacturers indicate that the dampening value of Poly vs. rubber is insignificant.

There is a built in grade 5 stud; these mounts are bolt in replacements for the originals. In fact, you re-use the fasteners from the original mount.

The stock mounts are totally designed for vibration dampening. In fact, some parts catalogs list the part name as vibration dampeners. Any time you go to more steel and less absorbtive material, you can expect some vibration. Our mounts are designed differently than others, and we believe less vibration is transmitted. Following the installation instructions is very important to maximize dampening.

One important point: When switching to high performance mounts, be sure your transmission mount is in good condition. In testing, we have found that worn out transmission mounts may not be obvious with stock mounts; installation of high performance mounts often accentuates the problem, and the result will be mistaken for vibration due to the new motor mounts. I recently demonstrated this to a customer.

Thanks for your questions. If you have more questions, or need other information, please feel free to ask.

What would be the benefit (real or percieved) from using a non-graphite bushing?

The non-graphite bushings may last a little longer, but otherwise no performance difference. Most people want the graphite bushing, because it won't squeak as easily. I have been running a set of non-graphites for two years, and have never heard a noise out of them.

The only other difference is that the graphites are black, and the non-graphites are red.

No price difference.

How much for a non-lifted set for a 99 XJ? I'm shopping around for new mounts for my wife's rig. Do you have trans mounts as well?
