As a person who never buys the first year of a vehicle because of this, my confidence is up.
Interesting take in that article. If indeed it is related to the dog clutches, that suggests that it may affect other vehicles using this new transmission. Dog clutches do make good sense in the long run though. Virtually zero parasitic energy loss.
BTW the geek in me must call BS on the "nanosecond " time scale referenced in the article. One nanosecond is the time of one cycle of a gigahertz frequency. NO MECHANICAL SYSTEM ever works anywhere near that range.

I saw a white one today. Driving down I-75 southbound in Ohio between Dayton and Lima .
I only saw it as it passed by going the opposite direction. But I do have to say it looked better to me in person than in the pictures. It is a very distinctive car from the front/ corner. And kinda mean looking.
The white made it stand out a lot . It was rolling along with just the DRL 's on. Not the headlights.
Be glad to see one up close at a dealer.

Just spotted 30 Limited Cherokees in Golden, CO. Stopped to take a look. Got to sit in one. Gotta say I am impressed. Unfortunately, they are not for the dealership but for concert at Red Rocks. Dealership doesn't know when they are getting theirs. They had 70 on order.
The length of publicly visible time involved worries me a bit ... like it's more of a software 'work around ' for a design problem than a patch.
Time will tell, hopefully I'm wrong.

Think that bad
Talk to the folks who ordered a 2014 Grand Cherokee with diesel power. Jeep just continues to delay delivery of their vehicles which have been built.
This what happens when your owned by a company ho has long history of mismanagement and stupidity. Sergio The Magnificent would be better off concentrating on his quality and production problems rather than going on his self promotion tours.

There is another possibility, that the government is holding up some approval, but no one wants to go public.

There about 35,000 cherokees built but just last week v14 software was released for the axles. Every single axle is being reflashed so thats causing a holdup, plus some noise issues with the clutch pumps on the rear axle. They brought back 2nd shift building them and they should start heading to dealers withing a week or two. I know there were a bunch loaded on railcars last week. I will say chrysler is really aiming high for quality, some of the requirements are higher than vehicles such as the escalade. The differentials are even built in a clean room and tested multiple times in different stages. I wasnt a big fan of the cherokee at first but its growing on me, and the 6 speed turbo diesel is pretty awesome and very comfortable.
