A lot of people have seemed interested in these videos, so i'm sharing them around. Its not mine, just a guy I met on a local forum who wanted to go off roading. he had the 4 cyl, and it seemed to have plenty of power. I have a few more videos, but they are still being uploaded, and won't be done till the morning. because of some stupid censor, I cannot post my youtube channel as a link, but it is youtube dot com/jeep Patriot channel. (the sensor bans jeep and patriot typed as one word)
Thanks for posting. No very challenging trail, but does show the KL has a bit of capability. Not to downplay the vids, but around here some folks have to drive roads like that just to get to the grocery store. Remains to be seen if the KL's basic fwd design, strut suspension, etc. can endure long term trail stresses like the traditional Jeeps of the past. If it can't, repairs will be very expensive and that will be reeal verdict.
No, for sure, not a difficult trail, hoping to get him out again. We were hoping to get to a more difficult section, but one of the guys who came was an hour late, and it took forever, so we simply ran out of daylight. Next time, shorter and harder trail.
I think those put to bed all the talk that the Cherokee is just a Mall Crawler, isn't a "real Jeep", and can't off road. I love how well it did in the 1st video going up the hill. Smoked that Toyota.
I disagree it didn't smoke the Toyota at all, but it is nice to see non Jeep sponsored off road videos.
He's an angel dressed in oilskins; he's a saint in the "Sou'wester,"
He's a pluck as they come, or ever can;
He's a hero born and bred, but it hasn't swelled his head,
For he's just the U.S. Government's hired man.
Toyota went up the hill with a lot less momentum... the cherokee with more momentum, I don't know if you can say one smoked the other, they both made it up, with slightly different driving styles. If you see the video of my patriot doing the same hill, I made sure I carried a lot of forward momentum with me, and had 0 issues. That's one thing with the cvt, is it prefers you have momentum..
