2016 Cherokee High Altitude with dual zone climate control and large touch screen....

I seriously believe the climate control is wacked - I've described this to the service department and they just get this dumbfounded look on their faces.

I don't have auto climate control on, I don't have the the defroster on, I don't have the AC on, fan speed is set to 3, temperature is set to 68, sync is on, dash vents are selected.

Outside temperature is 56 and I've been driving for a bit so the engine is warm. Cabin temperature is comfortable and all of sudden cold air starts blowing out the vents, continues for a couple of minutes, then warms back up. Will repeat again in a few minutes.

There is no reason for it start blowing cold air. Is there a wacked out sensor somewhere?

I don't care for AUTO mode because as soon as you touch the fan speed it kicks out - lame.

Hi Mike,

Have you had this HVAC flash performed on your Cherokee?

"NUMBER: 24-007-16
GROUP: Heating & Air
Conditioning
DATE: May 19, 2016

SUBJECT:
Flash: HVAC System Enhancement
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the HVAC control module with the latest available
software.

MODELS:
2014 ** - 2016** (KL) Jeep Cherokee

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe one of the following:
· **The radio temperature display does not match the HVAC controller temperature display.
· After a temperature slide bar movement, the radio display shows the temperature slider waiting for about three seconds and then the slide bar jumps again.
· Insufficient heating or cooling inside the vehicle.**
· After the ignition has been turned off for over four minutes, the MTC HVAC controls change to a different setting. The temperature setting should remain where the temperature was last set at. When the temperature slider bar is left at mid way point or less, the setting will revert to a cooler setting depending on where it was set before."

The Cherokee was purchased in mid August 2016, but I suppose the build date could have been prior to that firmware update. Is there any way to tell if the update has been applied? Somewhere in the menus I saw a list of revision numbers.

With respect the temperature set at 72 - yes. Today on my way to work I set the temp to 72, outside temp was 71, fanspeed was on 3 (again no auto mode, no defrost, etc..) All of sudden cold air was blowing out the vents after about 8 minutes of being on the road. I was driving with the windows open - it was very nice morning - temperature was comfortable until the cold air came on.

Next step I suppose is to take temperature reading so I have proof when I go back to the dealer.

I can always check your VIN and see if it was available for you and if a warranty claim was submitted showing it to be completed--otherwise, the dealership would check when they plug in to your vehicle to see what updates are available.
