2014 jeep cherokee latitude transmission trouble

I purchased a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude in San Antonio, Texas. I have owned several Jeep vehicles over the years, and never had any trouble, until now. Since December 2013, I have had at least four (4) occasions where the Jeep would not go into gear. The first time was when, after returning from a t ripo, I put the Jeep in park, and when I tried to put it into drive, it would not go into gear, and warning lights came on, both on the dash and on the shifter. I tried putting it through all the gears, which did not work, and then turned off the engine. When I tried to restart the Jeep, it would not start. I let it sit for a while, and then was able to restart the Jeep, and after shoving it into drive, it finally went into drive. This problem has happened at least four (4) times, and because it won't happen while at the dealer, they say there is no problem with my Jeep! They refuse to do any diagnostics, and will consult with Chrysler-Jeep about the problem. I believe it may be a sensor problem (electronics). I understand that this is a common problem with the 2104 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. I welcome any comments on how to get Chrysler-Jeep to address and correct this problem.

Hmmm, that's strange as there are several Technical Service Bulletins out which address transmission problems, or rough shifting. If you haven't been to your dealer lately, try again. In particular:

TSB 21-018-14 (5/15/14 Transmission) http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/2014/05/cherokee-flash-details

TSB 21-014-13 (12/19/13 prior transmission TSB)

TSB 21-13-13 adaptive learn if required by the above TSB

If your dealer won't do any of these...find another dealer.

Status update (no pun intended)

Did it end up smoothing out and adapting to her driving?

Bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude V6 4x4 as my first new car.

It is amazing in every way except a common problem that just started at 7400 miles. The transmission shifts were so bad I had to bring it in for service today. They did the update like I read about and it shifts better BUT now it gets chunky when coming to a stop and accelerating again. Feels like my SRT8 did but that was 'sport mode' all the time.

What could this be? An overcorrection on the shift software update? They have to know about this and working to correct it right?

I finally got my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude back from the shop yesterday. They had it for one month, and it took a while for them to get the transmission parts from the factory. So far it seems to be working fine. I hope that the previous problem with the transmission does not happen again. Chrysler Jeep was very helpful in getting this problem fixed. I will keep you posted as to whether or not I experience any other problems.

MAP Sensor had to be replaced

My 2014 Cherokee (7,000 miles) stopped running while driving, then two days later stalled out 4 times in 1 mile. Engine light came on and service transmission message came up, couldn't restart also had to let it sit for a minute or so.
Just got it back after 2 days, the tech said it drove fine for him (funny cause I couldn't go further than a mile) said he ran the codes and found that the MAP Sensor had faulted as well as having to do the transmission update.
18 hours later still running well, has fixed the most of the hard shifting also.
Time will tell though!

Update!! After I posted last week... drove 22 miles exactly and it happened again. Literally stopped running while driving down the road, luckily nobody hit me! I immediately called and had it towed back to the dealership... that was Thursday it's now Tuesday and no word. They cannot "find" the problem. I refused to get it till they did something. I did love this car... but now not so much.

I have a similar issue. A number of times, when starting first thing in the morning, the car would only move after revving to about 4000 RPM. This happened a few times and the dealer replaced something he called the valve.
All was fine, for a week. The gear failed again, this time at 6000 feet while climbing Mt. Washington.
The car as back at the dealers' (4th time).
I smell a lemon....

2014 jeep cherokee latitude major repair problems

I bought a JEEP Cherokee Latitude in April of 2014. Eight months later with only 14,000 miles on the vehicle major problems began.

Problem #1 - I began to experience automatic de-acceleration, stalling and heard a loud noise come from the engine. The check engine light appeared on the dashboard.

Dealership diagnosis - Technician road tested vehicle and verified condition - transmission shifts erratically. Valve body had to be replaced. The part was on back order and I had to get a rental.

Problem #2 - 12 days after getting valve body replaced, my transmission began leaking fluid.

Dealership diagnosis - Technician confirms leak and was instructed to replace transmission assembly. I had to get rental again.

Problem #3 - Two days after getting my JEEP Cherokee Latitude back after transmission assembly was replaced, problems with steering started and hood of SUV couldn't open. I am currently back in a rental and waiting for technician to diagnose the problems.

Help,

My mom is having transmission issues with her Latitude. It has stopped completely in intersections at least 3 times and she keeps getting the run around from the dealer, they can't find anything wrong.

This last time, they blamed it on her overfilling the gas and being two quarts low on oil. (They changed the oil 1 month earlier.)

We have a meeting tomorrow with the GM of the dealership.

But, something must be done. She is scared to drive herself to work.

Something's not right with your service center, none of that makes any sense. I think that your service advisor or tech is high on something. Blamed the jeep problems on.....
overfilling the tank...... as you know that's nearly impossible to do, we all fill it until the fuel nozzle clicks, sometimes twice or three times even.
...being two quarts low on oil, on an oil change that they had performed. I'm sorry, but neither of these two things will make a transmission fail. I'd be looking for another service department...or bring a mechanic friend along the next time you visit that joke of a shop.

BTW, how did your meeting go?

What year is the it?

What are the symptoms when it stops? Are there any errors? Is the engine still running? Does it drive normally after being restarted?

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. After a big hassle with Jeep, they finally replaced the transmission. Since then it has performed well. Now there are several recalls for this vehicle, including one in which someone with a laptop computer can take control of your vehicle while you are driving! We are still trying to get Jeep to perform at least two of the recalls. Because the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude was the first year that Jeep brought back the Cherokee, and because they installed a new style 9-speed transmission, there were problems. Hopefully the newer models have better performance, with less problems. We still really like our 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, and would recommend it to anyone who love the Jeep product line.

TEXASDEPUTY,

Do you know if the parts are available for the recalls you need completed? The R40 (the radio one) does not require parts, so that can be completed at any time. If you need help getting scheduled, let me know. If parts are available, we definitely want those recalls done!

What did you have to do to get your transmission changed. ? I've had nothing but problems with mine. Been to the dealer three times and have had a valve body changed and multiple flashes. It still acts up randomly and most of the time when I need it to go it won't.
