I've been trying to study google map and the High Lakes map to make sense out of the roads. It looks like to get to the South Main entrance, you could take Retson rd at Stirling City and follow that to Concow rd which could take you to the south entrance of trail 614. So, if we go in thru the north entrance and follow trail 614 past the lakes we feasibly could come out the south entrance and take Concow rd to Stirling City and on out? I can't find anywhere on the map how to get there from Hwy 70 unless you follow miles of switchbacks which lead the wrong direction. I'm sure there's a way somewhere. Looking at these maps makes my head hurt!

Rear tire carrier is no big deal. Just a 5 min fix for 4 wheel parts. Lol doing that on Monday.

Two locations along Hwy 70; One at Tobin and the other is theRock Creek Entrance. I haven’tpersonally come in from Hwy 70 but, I talked to a guy last weekend when we weredoing the clean up run and he came in from Tobin and said there were some challengingspots. There is also the entrance that comes into the pipe Jam trail.

looking like a pretty good group so far. so much to do, so little time. first things first: get doors back on for this trip. I'll be making a run over to the Flying J truck stop for some CB stuff, if anyone needs anything from there I'd be happy to pick it up for you.
and not that it really matters for me, but should be expecting some pin striping on this run, or is it mostly open trails like in the video?

Very little to no pinstriping on the trails we had time for. What you might get however is some rock striping. After washing the TJ for the first time since the Lost Coast run I noticed that I did not escape trail damage either!

Man, that looks like so much fun. Beautiful area, and that trail is the kind stuff I like to play in. Jim and Gene, thanks for the scouting report.

That said.... I am in the process of changing jobs at my company, with continuous training over the next two weeks. I don't know what my hours will be at the time of this run. I may be working through Friday night and into Saturday morning. My work days are going to be pretty irregular for a while, at the very least through Christmas. So, I have to bow out.

Sucks for pre-planned wheeling with a group, but this is something I have waited years to do (as in the last ten, to be exact), and in the long run is a good move on my part. Plus the extra bucks will mean a RTT for the trailer that much sooner.

I'll miss seeing you all again. But, it's not the end of the world. Maybe a snow run after the new year?

You have to start somewhere to get to the middle of nowhere.
