New to this Jeep this thing I have an 08 Rubicon and I am looking for places for a beginer to start off at. Places or competent people to go out with would be very helpfull.
It's a black two door so far has airaid intake, tuffy glove box, tuffy back storage compartment, handles front and back. Hopefully many more mods to follow.
I'm currently living in the bay area but want to avoid heading south. Like the chance of seeing alot more country side up north and possibly doing some camping. Also open to meet some experienced Jeepers and joining a club.

I'm in the Bay Area as well.. Once the snow melts (if it melts), I typically go 1-2 times per month - sometimes solo/dispersed camping/exploring and sometimes with a group...
Well the closest good stuff is due east, it's all under snow at this point and a good chunk of it is closed until April 1st. I don't know about you, but I'm a 3 season camper.
In the more immediate area there is Hollister, Frank Raines, Carnegie, Prairie City, and Cow Mountain. All of the above are OHV parks, usually good for day runs but sometimes people camp out. If you want to hit the OHV parks you can usually find someone here to go with if you post it up a week or two in advanced, I believe there are a couple of Hollister threads floating around here now.
If you're looking to explore the national forests, you should really attend a local club meeting and see what they're up to. Rarely will you see a club run posted up here, and people that are getting the club runs together usually will like to check your pile of parts out first and will let you know if you're equipped properly for what they're doing.
I'll be in the same boat come June when I get back from my deployment and pick up my New 2 door Rubi.:2thumbsup: I'm stationed at Travis (Fairfield/Vacaville) and will be looking for people to go wheeling with. I want to check out hollister for sure. If you keep active on the forums, you will surely end up seeing me around.
you know anygood wheeling places down towards placerville? im in shingle springs with a stock xj. all i know is some mudding spots behind the local denny's
Ok here's the thing I got an 08 Rubicon. I believe I do. Not really sure what they are or what they are used for. Completely new to this Jeep thing. Always wanted one now I don't know how to use it.

Ya you should definitely join a club. They will teach you how to use what your Jeep came equipped with and how to drive offroad. Post up when you wanna go for a run. I can take you up to some easy trails to get you started. I like to go up to Foresthill and mess around. Theres usually not that much snow up there.
i want to go to the snow on sat. maybe iron mountain rd or wentworth springs road to uncle toms cabin. any body in. i was going to pismo but its going to rain. there should be lots of snow to play in
ahhh thats gay i would totally be in for going but my jeep is down rite now and i have a paint ball party this weekend we should get some of the Nor cal jeepers together and do some runs this summer
im not as willing to camp in the rain as i use to be . the beach can get nasty in a storm. since i was going to be in the tent it didnt sound so good. This summer sounds good . maybe a rubicon trip before the waterboard closes it
yea i have been hoping to make a rubicon trip in september i figure by then i will have my 8.8 done my gears and my 33s hopefully. I have been wanting to make a snow run just havnt got a chance yet been busy. Hopefully i will have the jeep all fixed by thursday:2thumbsup:
i want to go saturday, sunday im busy, there was some interest on a local site. but i think it might be to early for you. what time saturday would be the earliest you could do it? I went to georgetown for dinner tonight. there is snow down low!
if you want to go we could see how far you can go, just let me know. we could meet at george town at a time that works for all who wants to go.
so far nobody has committed but me.
Ahh man have you read my build thread... lol im out like 1000 bucks rite now i need a new tie rod, steering stabalizer, and ball joints. And since i have to replace the long part of the tie rod i figured this is the time to upgrade to 1 tons so my jeep is going to be down for a few weeks while i get the money to fix it. Thats why i said earlier i would totally love to go but i just cant rite now:brickwall Hopefully though i get the money and get it fixed while there is still some snow. I have been wanting to do a snow run so bad
yea lol i thought i would take it in to the shop he would give me an alignment tell me like one thing that was wrong and send me on my way lol and i was hoping on running up to the snow this sunday ha!!! He is a family friend and really wise when it comes to front ends. He gave it a look over and basicly told me its bad lol he told me I need a new steering column, steering stablizer, ball joints, tierod end on the long one not the driver's side and i need to do something about my track bar either weld it or do a different set up. Im not to worried about the track bar but everything else i was just like danget lol
Hey do you guys have a meet spot? What about time? I couldn't be 100% for going until about 6am tomorrow but if I don't have a work commitment I'd be down for going.
norcaldon has my phone # and is supposed to call tonight. im not sure which way he would be coming, 50 or 80 to georgetown. if its 50 i could meet at the kelsey bible church on 193. or at george town in front of the corner kitchen. in george town where wentworth springs road starts , there is a 4 way stop. turn right and the restaurant is about 4 buildings down on the left. The time is at 9 or 10, per norcaldons request. im not even sure he is going and i really dont want to go alone.ill pm you. its always hard to get these things together. almost like trying to get a poker game going. im flexible on the time.
ill be there early eating some chow, we plan on leaving george town by 945 or so
