New date Slick Rock July 20

The 20th works for more so it's the 20th now.
Thinking Sat July 20 will work best for most. This is up to everyone.
Start time 10am

To get there, drive up Highway 4 past Bear Valley to Lake Alpine. Turn south off the highway at the west end of Lake Alpine.

The trail has a difficulty Rating: Difficult
Rock sliders and lockers recommended, but not needed. (stock jeeps have done it. There are Bypasses
Trail Length: 3.7 Miles - point to point
Elevation Range: 6724' - 7403'

There is camp at the trail head. (others may know more about that Info.)

Gas Up: If you are coming from the west, get fuel in Jackson or Angels Camp. There are stations in the small towns of Murphys and Arnold (farther east), but you'll pay the price.

Slick Rock Road is a great scenic route with a few challenges along the way. Although not as difficult as near by Deer Valley(Closesd) Slick Rock is more fun to drive. Along the trail you will find great views of Alpine Lake, Silver Creek and the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Slick Rock Road is referred to as a road because it was once a paved service road. Along the trail there are still areas of concrete visible. Because of its short length and relative ease the trail only takes a few hours to run but also offers some great camping opportunities along the trail and Silver Creek.

I'd like to come. What is the start time on Saturday? Good 3hr drive from bay area.

There is camping around Lake Alpine, or dispersed camping along the trail or at Utica Reservoir. Could camp at Utica Sat, then Sun run the trail back up to Lake Alpine and head home Sunday?

Added you to the list. Was thinking 10am for a start time. That way it gives people time to drive up if they don't camp the night before.

What do you think about camping Sat and running trail back up to Lake Alpine on Sunday?

There is a boat launch area and parking lot at Lake Alpine along the Ebbetts Pass road we could all meet at. Think there is a restaurant there too. Pay no attention to the sports cars and pretend they are jeeps,

I'm tentatively in. Just deciding if the Jeep can do it "safely". This is the trail with the "painted rock" where people have rubbed against it on a really off-camber part yes? I don't have lockers, but do have a lift and sliders.
