Islamabad Jeep Club’s ( IJC ) Flood Relief Initiative
Hundreds of fellow Pakistanis have died and millions left homeless because of the devastating floods that have affected the major part of our beloved country. In this dire situation, we, the members of the Islamabad Jeep Club, felt that it is our duty to step up and help in any way we can. In this regard, a meeting was held on the 4th of August, 2010 and aims, objectives and plans chalked out (elaborated below).
We would appeal to all friends to step forward and join IJC in this initiative. Please go through the summarized plan below to see how you can help.
We have already bought 30 tents to be sent to Charsada. Uncooked food stuff for 500 people to last 7-10 days will be sent to Dharkhanawala.
IJC has already joined hands with Sehberg Trust and Pakistan Relief who will be supplying clean, treated, drinking water in 20L plastic cans for the affected areas.

First Hand Report from SUhaib Kiani ( 5. 8 2010 )
I visited the Mera Prang and Pashtun Garhi areas today and discussed things with the contact people there. Very productive visit and good response from the people at the ground and positive vibes on the way forward....
At Mera Prang, we went to Fazal-e-Ghafoor Killay just off the Charsadda Interchange which is home of the Shakoor Khan family. The Shakoor brothers are running a relief camp at their home/killay wheer they distribute food items to local residents of the area. They reiterated tents as the most neeeded items, and guided us to affected areas where we saw the destroyed homes first hand and spoke to the people. They have identified an area with 40 fully destroyed homes which we are looking to supply with tents. This can be followed by other areas across the road which are worse hit and have higher demand for tents running into the hundreds.....
At Pashtun Garhi, just off the GT Road short of Pabbi, we met with Major Saboor who is a local resident running relief operations in the area. He requested for our assistance in setting up a langar initially for 150 people. He said that he would be able to provide manpower and manage related aspects including distribution etc. We would need to send him teh food materials and also assist in registration of the affectees for the langar process.....
Pics to follow on the forums....

@ All......Alhamdolilah another successful visit to the flood devastated areas of Nowshera and Charsadda.
Special thanks to Wahaj and his team, Umair bhai, Iqbal bhai, Ms Rabia, Dr Adnan, Khalid Shoaib and ZZ, Samad and his team and the entire IJC team. It was truely a team effort and it paid well.
PARS team comprising of Khalid Shoaib AP2MKS and Zakir Zaman AP2ZZ provided excellent support in radio com. A special repeater has been installed at Nowshera for round the clock connectivity regardless of cell phone range and free from Electricty failures.
There were five teams constituted by IJC this time;
Samad Khurram... went with Siraj Khan to cover a village beyond charsada know as Sholgara.. 45 houses destroyed with no shelter or regular food provision. Samad took along tents and Raw food for Langar. All the stuff was handed over successfuly and the langar initiated.
Dr Adnan and Khalid Shoaib in FDO went to Amanpur. 25 houses were washed away in the flood. Ready made food packets were distributed successfuly.
Dr Adnan second consignment with ready made food for 300 people left for a village called Achini in Charsada. Zohaib and Burhan carried out the distribution themselves and were able to join us by mid day.
IJC, Roots system and Ibex.... went for intended target village of Pir sabak near risalpur. The convoy was very well received by the elders of the family. The items taken along were primarily for initiation of Langar for 500 people but then on the insistance of the elders of the family the same will be equally distributed amongest the residents and they will themselves cook it.
IJC went to Pushtoon garhi to inspect the langar that was commissioned a week back. Everything was found in order. Further reinforcement in terms of food commodity was provided to the langar for another 15 days. 2 cooks and 1 nan bai were also hired.
By and large the entire event well satisfactorily. Reinforcement to these areas would be sent in the coming week.
will post pics later.
