What inspired you to hit the weights?

What was/is your inspiration?

For me it was bill kazmaier. Being born in the 80's and having family that watched pro wrestling, seeing that behemoth left an impression. Then there's Louie Simmons, just an encyclopedia of strength knowledge, and Dave Tate, founder of elite fts. Motivation is to be bigger, better, than I was yesterday in all of life

Originally: Football practice (though I quit because I didn't like football itself, just the weightlifting)

Back into it around age 17: Probably my brother?

After: Because I was a lardass

What keeps me going now?

Desire to be the best I can be and watching these guys:

I was an athlete in high school. Let life get in the way and got a little pudgy, wasn't happy remembering how fit I used to be.

Decided to change it, started training Brazilian JiuJitsu, dabbled in the MMA a little bit. Changed my diet, my lifestyle, everything. Now I'm healthy and happy.

Had heart problems all my life and since I can't play sports esp. contact sports I took up weightlifting after my 9th grade year to stay in shape and been lifting ever since.

The M60 was heavy to hike around. I started lifting my first year in the Marines. It quickly became the highlight of my day, and has been mostly since.

I was a skinny ****. Stumbled across bodybuilding.com and the Hodge Twins on YouTube and just started going. One of my friends had lifted before so I had him show me what to do. Each day i tried to lift as much as i could so i could eventually lift as much as him. Now I lift more than him.

Now, seeing my progress inspires me to keep going,

Similar story. I wasn't too short but was pretty skinny in high school. Always went to the gym with my Dad, but never actually got into it until college. But seeing myself get bigger just makes me want to go even more.

Really not trying to toot my own horn, but t2 years ago I turned out to be the only match for a buddy who needed a kidney transplant (genetic thing, not lifestyle related). The problem was that I was 30lbs too heavy. They are EXTREMELY strict on donor health. So, I started running a little and then a lot more and dropped the weight in time.
After the recovery, I decided I didn't want my weight to ever be a contributing factor to my health again. Me and my buddy both committed to changing our lifestyles and its been great ever since.

Because I was skinny. 5' 11" and 150 isn't exactly prime weight.

Now I'm 173 and alot stronger. I started out benching 95 now I can rep out 135 and get 5 reps of 155. I could've made alot better progress in 8 months but it is what it is.

Try being 6' and 135-140. It sucked.
