For help with muscle building, you can take a pre-workout for help with performance and thus higher gains. I have had very good results with MusclePharm Assault, and would suggest it as about the only pre-workout I would trust, from my own experience.
If you aren't looking for anything quite that intense, you can always just up your protein and BCAA intake, which you should be doing whether you're taking a pre-workout or not. Whey protein and creatine are easily available and, when taken regularly, can help produce good muscle gains as well.
As far as muscle recovery goes, I will again mention my go-to brand: MusclePharm. Their product Recon is top quality, and leaps and bounds ahead of anything else Ive tried. Although, if you're looking for something a little simpler, the recovery drink from BeachBody isn't half bad.
