Bulk...then Cut

How long would you bulk, then start cutting? Do you bulk for a month, then cut for a couple weeks or what?

Sorry for the newb question, just trying to figure this out. I'd like to plan out the next few months and set some goals instead of just "hitting the gym every week."

Back in my competition years I bulked for about five months, then cut for about four months. Now I keep everything pretty much constant. Remember that changing your diet towards each goal is as important as the changes in lifting.

If you are just getting into it, but feeling stagnant at the gym I would rotate your weeks for a few months.

Week 1 Super Sets

Week 2 Heavy

Week 3 No set of less then 20 reps

Week 4 Pyramid sets

Repeat

Depends on where you are at now versus how much muscle mass you want after your cut. If you only need to be a little more muscular than a month should do on the bulk. If you want to gain ten pounds of muscle its obviously going to take longer.

I'll take a picture of my scrawny *** and post it with a picture of a "goal body" so to speak. I don't know what 10 lbs of muscle on me will look like. Haha

I'm about done with my bulking. I've been doing it for about two months. Put on about ten pounds, we will see how much is muscle once I cut.

What's your plan for cutting? Are you going to do anything other than reduce calories? Do you plan on changing your workout routines?

I'm just adding cardio on off days, doing more abs, and eating cleaner foods. More fruits and veggies.
