Good job!
I'm currently not going due to an aggravated muscle. Doctor said 2 more weeks. I can feel the weight coming back on.

Went to GNC to pick up some snack/meal replacement bars. Of course the salesman (doing his job) tried to push some pills on me. We have already established the sucker I am, but I did not buy any. But wanted to get you folks idea on GNC Ripped vitapak. basically a three pill pack. first one is oil, second is a pre-workout thingamajig, and the last is a "fat cutter that focuses on belly first". I am sure that is GNC101 to tell the guy that looks decent everywhere but the belly that that is what the last pill does. I think that actually goes against science.

What do you experts think?

I'm no expert, but that sounds like a load of ****. From what I understand, the body doesn't pull fat from a specific area, which is why people get frustrated when their arms get toned and they still have belly fat. I don't see how a pill could change that.

I would pass on that pack. You've already been seeing good results, just stick with it.

Yeah, I think I am kind of done with the supplement search. Obviously, I will continue protein, but I can't get a straight answer anywhere else...In my mind if I am going to do this I might as well take advantage of whatever I can, as long as healthy. But everything I have read tells me that losing 1-2 lbs per week is ideal and that is what I am doing along with adding strength. I already feel better so just keep on going and results will come.

I like Irok Tek whey protein. It doesn't have all of the artificial crap in it. I also use creatine, a good liquid multi, and BCAA's. I looked at GNC's flagship protein the other day and it had high fructose corn syrup on it. I have no idea why they would make a protein powder that is basically a junk food. That's pretty much it. Keep doing it until the results slow down or stop then switch it up!

Edit. I have always been a skinny guy so losing weight has really never been a goal. Just packing muscle on. I get up to 240 then cut back to 225 trying to gain some muscle mass but I think I may have hit my genetic limit.

What I have found that worked great for me cutting back was a Nutribullet. I used it as a meal replacement. Pack it full of fruits, veggies, protein powder, and a raw egg or two in the morning and I'm good til lunch. When I putting on weight I drink 3-4 of those per day plus regular meals and use whole milk. When I'm losing the fat I use water and drink 3 per day and cut out a meal. I like walking on the treadmill inclined with a weight vest for cardio. It really blasts your calfs too!

I throw in the Vince Gironda 10x10 for a couple months after about 4-5 months of any routine. It's brutal and you get good cardio/pump with it. It takes a week or two to get used to the intensity.

Keep up the good work.

Remember: the only supplement you need is consistency.

Don't waste your money on GNC products. A proper diet and consistent workout routine are all you need. :-)

I went to the doctor yesterday, mainly for him to tell the insurance I was doing well on the cpap and to get a refill on the bp meds. But since I had his ear for a minute I thought I would ask him about supplements/vitamins.

Me: Hey Doc, I have hired a personal trainer and have started working out again and trying to eat right. But I want to take full advantage of this. What vitamins or supplements would you suggest for me? I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.

Doc: In my opinion the vitamin industry is a billion dollar scam in this country. You excrete most of the vitamins we take in anyway. If you have a healthy diet, you will be fine. If you start taking stuff your piss just turns the color of your shirt because you are just flushing it out. If you just feel like you must take something, grab some flinstones.

Me: take nothing?

Doc: Just eat a healthy diet. Unless you are a vegan or something, then I can prescribe you something.

(my wife is a vegetarian, so just out of curiosity I thought I would ask
Me: What would you prescribe?

Doc: Antidepressants.

Bright yellow piss, all the reason I ever needed not to waste money on vita-paks. The Triflex I'm taking isn't full of vitamins, but it too turns my piss a nice shade of yellow. I'll give it a month if that doesn't seem to help my shoulder I'm done with that.

I had a good laugh at that lol

Good job with the weight loss! I need to get myself back in the gym more often

I never make the same mistake twice - it's more like three or four times.

Hahaha nice.

In my health risk appraisal class yesterday I learned we can only digest about 60mg (I think) of vitamin c and the rest is wasted. That'a easy to get through diet.

A healthy diet is the way to go!

And your piss typically turns neon bright green/yellow from ingesting supplements containing B12 iirc.
