your thoughts on this welder

For sale is a Miller Millermatic 212 wirefed MIG welder. Purchased in December 2007.

Includes:

45lbs .035 wire
.030 tips
.035 tips
15' M-25 MIG gun

Welder runs on 220v. Seven taps provide welding range of 30-210 amps. Welds up to 3/8" steel. Aluminum spool adapter allows up to 3/8" aluminum welds (not included).

Tank not included.


guy is asking 1500$

any thoughts?

that is a beefy welder. I have it's little brother the mm180 so I would say yes, it is a nice one.

Possibly overkill for the home hobbyist. It's BIG too.

My shop uses that welder alot, we can do frame work all the way down to body work with it. I think that model auto adjusts like ours which is a REALLY nice feature when it comes to welding thin metals. I'd say go for it!

Great welder.. I got my 210 delivered to my front door for $1250.

I think you can get one of the eBay "welding stores" to do similar prices for the newer 212..

I didn't notice the 212 had duel input voltages. That's a pretty nice feature. It will run 208/240 and 120/15-20Amps.

The older machines would only run 208/240, (but you had to move a voltage jumper), and you stuck with a single plug configuration.

The machine must limit output amps depending on input voltage.

no i hadn't purchased the welder yet. We are haggeling on a price since i showed him i can buy it brand new for 40$ less.

hopefully he will come around a bit.
