yj snorkel homemade
wondering how to snorkel my 4.2L 6 cylinder wrangler 1990. im not sure how to incorporate an air cleaner box into the connection to the carburetor. any ideas how to do, if anybody has pictures of what they have done that would be great.
What carb do you have?
Ive heard of people using tupperware to attach the intake hose of the snorkel. My guess is that the lid of the tupperware goes in between the carb and the air filter attached to the carb while the container part of the tupperware is placed on on top of that enclosing the air filter inside. You can attach a flexible intake hose from the snorkel to a hole you make in the side of the tupperware.
If i have some time ill draw something up in CAD to show you what i mean. Also i would definitely use some sort of microwavable safe tupperware or something that can resist heat.
Just go to the local junkyard and buy an air filter box off something that is the desired size to fit neatly on the inner fender wells...
from there just be innovative of running pipe or hoses sealed tight from the carb to the intake side of the box, then do the air tight snorkel off the otherside of the box...
That way you'll have an easily found and replaced air filter just by knowing what vehicle the air box came out of.
