90 amp flux core welder would not come close to welding an offroad bumper, multipass or not. I wouldn't use less than a 150 amp machine with solid wire or flux core, multipassed forsure.

Since no ones asked what thickness material he's using to builds this, I think its a wee bit premature to jump his case over his welder.

Whatever is strong enough to weld a d-ring to, doesnt have to be strong enough to plow threw a brick wall but you get the point.

I'm using 3/16 in steel and a gas stick welder so I can weld anything I want to. Haha.

Hrm, think you could make and mount a bumper on a '12 Rubicon JKU? Formerly a KS kid myself and will be driving through in a couple of weeks. Will be in town for 4-5 days. Was going to buy an aftermarket bumper, but if I can get a solid homemade and help you out with some income, sounds win-win to me.

Any offroad bumper should be made out of 3/16ths or thicker, mounts 1/4. A small machine like that just isn't enough.

I looked into what my machine is rated for, its good for up to 3/16ths however I feel stick welding would be much stronger.

Yep that's what I plan on doing 3/16ths bumper and 1/4 mounts.

The OPs machine is more than enough, I know, I have one just like it mounted on a skid instead of a trailer.
