I'm fixing to build a set of bumpers for my xj.Just wondering what everones opinion on what size of tubing I should use .I'm in between 2x4 and 2x6 rec. tubing .
The 2" x 4" will not go down far enough to cover the front cross member - at least not on my '84. I don't have a 2" x 5" or 2" x 6" to compare so I don't know if they will for sure but by measurements the 2" x 6" will cover the support and the 2" x 5" will come close.
EDIT: That being said I voted 2" x 4" because that's the look I like. On mine I will be putting some steel plate going from the bottom of the bumper to cover the crossmember.
i used 2x5 on mine. seems to work just fine:thumbsup:
