Look for "Ultra High Molecular Weight" plastic... might try McMaster-Carr.. they have "self-oiling" UHMW plastic that works well for skid material. I used it on my old buggy.

as Eddie said...its UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene) or HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene).

HDPE is whats used for cutting boards.
UHMWPE is whats used for bearing surfaces in knee replacements.

If you've got big bucks you could try PEEK (Poly-Ether-Ether-Ketone)
PEEK is an uber-expensive polymer used in spinal fusion implants & blood dialysis pumps.

btw, these polymers aren't a structural part of the skid plate. They are the replaceable skin - designed to wear away & deteriorate. The polymer skin is just bolted to a structural member of the frame, usually which holds the tranny mount, t-case mount, etc.
