Whats the best place to get metal?

I have never bough metal before, I usually just buy it through my school so I dont know where to get it now that im out of school. Do home improvement stores carry metal? I thought this would be a good place to ask. Thanks

Find out where your school gets it. Home improvement places tend to have poor selection and be WAY too expensive.

97 TJ Sport - 4.0/HP D30 w ARB/8.8 w LS/4.88s; 35s and flat fenders on 2.5 lift

84 CJ7; frame off restoration in progress.

The technical advice you get from me here is worth exactly what you paid me for it. Warranty issues will be reimbursed at double what you paid me for the advice.

Although more expensive than my local suppliers, I'll get small quantities of odd-sizes from www.speedymetals.com. They've got a large assortment at "decent" online prices and ship quickly.

Ive looked around and bought from yalesteel.com a few times. Fast shipping and prices are pretty good. x2 on staying away from Lowes/HD. Its very expensive there.

Depending on what you're looking for, you can probably go by a local welding shop and buy small quantities of whatever you need. That's how I typically get what I need, and I get it cheaper than through the local steel supplier. I actually got all the steel for my rockers + the bending done for an 18 pack.
