SOA is "dead" because the paid advertisements known as magazines say so...
SOA is not dead. But alive and well. More flex, better ride.
That being said, I built my own traction bar from 1" Chrome-moly tube. I used Cherokee trac bar bushings you can get from O'reilley auto for $12 a pair.
Laying it all out.
TIG welded it all.
Axle mount end. The centers are 8" apart.
Welded a piece between the two sides to give it some side to side rigidity.
Bracket welded to rear axle. I had to massage the traction bar to "bend" towards the center. Since it cannot be welded on the center of the axle.
Transfer case end was mocked up.
Everything was painted.
Shackle was made for the T-case end.
I'm very happy with it's performance. It keeps the rear end planted and does not limit my flex at all.
