spool gun help

does anyone have a spool gun on either a millermatic 180 or a similar size machine.i want to know about how well it works for that size machine and what thickness material you weld with it?Thanks,i have a project that I will be welding 1/8 -1/4 inch thick stuff and need to know if my MM180 is up to the task

That really doesnt tell me what I need to know.Like I said I need to know if I will be able to do 1/4 material or not with it.

Talk to your local welding supply shop? First thing I would do personally.

Under the specs tab on your model welder says 1/4 alum. with spool gun...

Thanks dscope thats what I was looking for.I already talked to the and he said it MIGHT do 1/8 and I thought he didnt know what he was talking about now I know.i guess i will be getting a spoolgun then!

I guess you don't know that your MM180 is rated at the same amp & duty cycle as that spool gun.

If your welder won't do it then the spool gun won't either.

To say "yes" this spool gun will weld 1/4" material then yes it will.

Here's Millers picture to show the thickness of material both units will weld.

I didn't know if a spool gun made a difference in what thickness material I could weld or not.I will never weld aluminum thicker than 1/4 so I am golden!
