procomp bumper made into a STUBBY

ever since i built my tube fenders i have wanted a stubby bumper. i could build one using some 2x4" steel that i have in my garage, but then i would be just like everyone else

i really like the procomp bumper i have now. its 3/16" and has a nice slope to it that makes it just slide right over rocks. ive been running it for a couple yrs, plus its only $100.

so i decided i would just section some out of mine. all welded up it looks just like the GENRIGHT bumper that retails for $400

so heres what im starting with (no you dont have to take your tires off, im currently building a steering system so thats why mine are off.)

then i tok the bumper off

then i marked where i was going to cut. looks like i'll be taking out 6" on each side. THATS 12" TOTAL!!!!

i put it in the chop saw and cut the end piece off at my mark.

heres the end piece

i then did the same thing to the the side.

heres both end pieces together

then the bumper with no end pieces

next i cut 6" in on each side at my previously marked lines. i didnt get any pics of this.

here you can see how everything was cut

and a close up

and now you take out those pieces and it looks like this

next i whippd out my trusty HH140. man i love this thing

started tacking it in place

then i burned it in. i welded both inside and out.

once it was all welded up i marveled in its beauty for about 10 secs. then i whipped out the good ol flapper disk to make it look sexy.

one more

now it was time to paint.

hanging in my backyard

starting to look good

after 3 coats i decided it was time to mount this new short bad boy up.

and heres the final product. i think it looks pretty FRICKIN' sweet

took only a couple hrs and was one of the easiest mods ive ever done. looks awesome and it was free

That bumper looks suspiciously similar to the Smittybilt SRC I put on a couple of weeks ago, which is entirely too long. I've been considering cutting about a foot out of it and adding more spots for lights. Think I'll do that when both the Jeep and chop saw get here.

Mine- 2k TJ, RC 2.5 lift, .75 spacers, Soft 8s, 33" KM2s, winch, lights, and so on
Hers- 06 WK, bone stock until she leaves it and the credit card with me for an unsupervised weekend

You're the retarded offspring of five monkeys having butt sex with a fish-squirrel.
