Shift Knobs - What Have You Made On A Lathe??
Hey so when I got my Jeep it came with some shift knob that I absolutely despise. I got an aluminum ball but it was stolen a couple months ago and I haven't gotten around to replacing it. I finally decided to do something and make my own on the lathe at my school. (It worked out perfect cause I needed to get used to the machine again before starting machining my Junior Design Project.) So here is my design and machining process and final product. (It might receive another layer or two of stain)
also, I did a second one just to mess around a little more. and I am planning on putting a hole with some threads into that wooden ball to see if that works.
piston knob i made
some of this was done a lathe, but more done on a mill
i'll grab pic of the one i made for my truck as well, all done on a lathe.
I cut an old camshaft and made a t handle shifter. You can kind of see it in this picture.
